Mommy Luvs 2 Save

Use Extreme Couponing To Save You Money and Get Your Family Out of Debt

July 31st ~ What Have YOU Done to Get Debt FREE ?

July 31, 2023 by Karen 8 Comments

One of the biggest reasons for creating MommyLuvs2save was to create a community of moms and dads who want to help their family save money when buying essentials in order to free up money for debt repayment.  My own family has paid off over $205,500 in consumer debt including credit cards, student loan debt and 2 vehicles. I am a teacher at heart. I want to use the skills that I have learned to help YOU ditch debt. I want to encourage each of you in your efforts so that one day you can feel the freedom of being debt free. I’m not quite there yet either (we still have a mortgage) so I need encouragement as well !

It can be very difficult to pay down debt.  There are many temptations to spend money. We live in a culture that encourages debt and spending. In addition, expenses come up and there never seems to be any extra money for paying down debt.

I want to urge each of you to participate in a challenge. Just leave a comment about one positive step you’ve taken for your family each day. Did you eat in instead of going out? Did you save money at the grocery store? Did you pay extra on your credit card? Leave a comment below and we will cheer one another on every day and every step of the way.

The challenge is to leave a comment about what YOU have done to work on getting debt free each day.  One winner will be chosen to win a $50 Amazon gift card at the end of each month.  To participate in the challenge you must comment on at least 10 posts during the month.

* I will also be sharing my progress from the day prior.

My Progress: It was a no spend day for us yesterday!   We did have fun going to look in two stores for appliances again, but we left emptyhanded.  It’s nice that we can just walk away.  Our current appliances are still working, but are on their last legs so we have a few days/weeks  to think aobut it.  I may check Sears, Home Depot and Lowes thanks to some of your comments.

We went to my little sister’s birthday party last night. I got her card for FREE on Cardstore (she got a kick out of the fact that it was personalized).  I got her presents throughout the year.  All of the gifts were FREE and saved for her special day.  I got her a beautiful turquoise and sterling bracelet, a lotion , and a bunch of other little things that she loved.

I entered the 40 MyCokeRewards codes that I posted about.  I also cashed out for 2 more orders of Spicy McBites for Ro.  I earned 18 Swagbucks and did a survey after the girls went to bed.  Honestly, I wanted to do more, but was too tired.

I got my Green Mountain Iced Coffee K-Cup samples in the mail.  It’s a 4 pack, so that’s pretty nice. Nope, I still didn’t get to the drugstores.  I HAVE to go today before all of the good deals are gone.  I wasn’t expecting to have to go to the birthday party, but I’m glad we did because it was fun. I did manage to go through my coupons to make sure that I use the ones that expire before the end of the month aka today!

What did you do ?  I hope you had a blessed day. Leave a comment You could be the July winner. You could make 2012 your year !

I just finished printing my month end coupons so today I plan trying to get to at least one store. There are a few things I need to start picking up for snacks for back to school and now seems like a good time to start. Other then buying ink yesterday we did not spend any money. I did get a rebate check yesterday and a survey check so that did cover some of the cost of the ink so that was good.

I’m such a dork. I brought my coupons on vacation because I love to look through grocery stores we don’t have at home. I went to Lowes Foods yesterday for super doubles and got a few deals.

I worked out of town for a month and I packed up my boxes of coupon inserts in my rental car for the trip! I did the same thing -its fun hitting up other stores not in your area! Plus - there was not a lot to do in the evenings after working OOT, so I did some damage this way! 🙂

I don’t think that’s dorky Beth (maybe I’m dorky too). Believe me, I am bringing coupons when I come to the US in a couple of weeks so I can stock up on all the stuff we can’t get in Canada!

Karen, I don’t know if you can hold off until Labor Day to get your new appliances. We just bought a new house and had to get a washer and dryer. . .had to leave ours at the old house for the buyers. I didn’t mind that at all - nice young couple just starting out. Anyway, the wonderful salesman at Lowe’s said they will be having great Labor Day sales on appliances. There was no way we could wait that long, especially with a 3 year old! We did take advantage of the Independence Day sale but he said Labor Day will be better.

We had a great day just hanging out at home. My youngest son is doing reading camp at our local school so we were all up early. We decided it was a great time to get back on school “time.” We had some things that we bought for our investment property that we didn’t need and almost ran them back to the store until we found out the price of gas jumped $0.25. We decided to wait until we had another reason to go and instead took a family walk/bike ride. All meals were made at home. I was able to earn 49 swagbucks.
